Assalam Alaikum:

I was asked by Br Mohamad, President of MCQC, to gather a group of 6-9 people or more, that are interested to serve the community during the time of losing a loved one. The services that are required to provide to the community cover a wide spectrum. Below is a starting list:

* Handle the initial communication with family, Funeral Home, and Cemetery
* Plan the Funeral and announce to the communities.
* Execute the Funeral plan including (wash, shroud, Funeral Prayer and burial)
* Help the family to cope with their loss – Provide food and social support
* Help the family in regards to visitation, or Khatem
* Help in arranging financial help.

These services required a variety of interests and talents and many people can help. It is important to realize that not every member of the group has to participate in all items of the list. However, it is important to have enough people to fulfill the need and backup for everything.

These responsibilities that are listed above are classified in our religious affair as FARD KEFAYA (Obligatory on group of individuals that are capable to satisfy the community needs), In case there is not enough people to handle the need then everyone in the community is held to account (AATHEM).
